"Go on. Take it. Taste the power."
― Jakob to Dusk Dude, persuading him to take the Serum of Blistering Heat. (New Blood Interactive's DUSK)

The trait for a power or set of powers that is gained from an empowering object. Variation of Power Source. Not to be confused with Object Empowerment.

Also Called[]

  • Artifact/Object Magic
  • Object-Based Powers
  • Object of Power
  • Powered Items/Objects

Effects[]

A power or a set of powers is delivered to a character who possesses or uses an empowering object, which itself is supernatural and/or advanced technology. The level of power will vary substantially depending upon the object with some objects bestowing limited Physical Augmentation and other objects, particularly those of Divine Power, enabling vast destructive power and Reality Warping. If the user of an empowered object already possesses supernatural abilities, the object may enhance these powers in addition to grant new abilities.

Variations[]

Types[]

Variant[]

Limitations[]

  • If the object is taken away, or destroyed, the user will lose their power.
  • Object Negation can negate any/all objects and object-using powers, undoing the targets existence at least on temporary/local scale.
  • Object Sealing can prevent access to the object's supernatural essence by having it sealed away.
  • There is no telling how a powerful object will fare if pinned against another.
  • May need to be in constant contact with the object to keep the gained powers.
  • Might not function if dealt with possible interference.
  • The object may break or be rendered useless if too much power is used.
  • May not be able to use if the previous user has imprinted his or her soul into the magical object, and cannot be used by the current user.
  • Cannot overwrite the previous users soul to use the said magical object if the users soul is not strong enough.
  • The previous magical object cannot be copied by another.
