- Depending on the evolutionary process in whichever universe or franchise remains ambiguous. One theory claims they were a biproduct of a human/animal unity via magic, weird science or other mysterious forces in ancient times. Another theory states they may have been evolutionarily uplifted from non-sapient animal species by scientific, magical or other means since they were never human at all to begin with.
